The Jamaican American Association of Central Florida, Inc. (JAAOCF)
Our Founders
The Jamaican American Association of Central Florida, Inc. (JAACF) was founded in November of 1985, the organization was first named West Indian Civic Association, then The Jamaican American Society of Central Florida. In 1986, it became the Jamaican American Association of Central Florida by founding members Mrs. Marjorie & Desmond Brown, et al, along with other dedicated individuals who sought to create a vibrant community for Jamaican Americans in Central Florida. These visionary founders, including past presidents and vice presidents, laid the groundwork for an organization that would celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Jamaica while also addressing the social, educational, and economic needs of the community. Over the years, JAACF has been led by a number of distinguished presidents and vice presidents, each contributing their leadership, dedication, and passion to its growth and success. Through their collective efforts, JAACF has achieved remarkable milestones, including organizing cultural events, educational programs, and community service initiatives that have positively impacted both the Jamaican American community and the broader Central Florida region. Today, the association continues to thrive, remaining committed to fostering unity, empowerment, and cultural pride among its members while also promoting meaningful engagement with the wider community.
